A state-of-the-art sports performance, rehabilitation and healthcare centre, The Mill, will open in Queenstown in 2025.
The largest private sports centre of its kind in New Zealand at more than 2,500sqm, The Mill will offer locals and visitors a world-class, integrated sports and fitness training and recovery experience.
Remarkable Physios Peter Forch, who is leading the project alongside podiatrist Georgina Read, says the team has taken the very best in sports industry practices and facilities from around the world and merged them into one specifically designed space.
“We’re offering locals – both elite athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts - the opportunity to train and recover in a bespoke environment not previously seen in New Zealand. And we’re really excited about the opportunity to create a hub for the community, a place that meets everyone’s training needs under one spectacular architecturally designed roof.”
Backed by local entrepreneur Rod Drury, the facility will feature a 1200 sqm Gym, spin cycle studio, Group HIIT studio 25m indoor turf track, mezzanine meeting and event space, a high-tech recovery room, indoor and outdoor training spaces, treatment rooms and a contrast therapy zone with infrared/ traditional saunas and plunge pools.
Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Massage therapists, Nutritionists, Performance coaches, an imaging specialist and other medical professionals will all be permanently on site to lead the wellbeing and recovery needs of clients and members.
Mr Forch says the new facility will also strengthen the offering available to international professional athletes and teams looking for training camp destinations.
“Queenstown is already a popular base for international athletes across a range of disciplines but access to a facility of this quality, and with this level of world class professional care and equipment, will encourage them to stay longer and spend more, impacting significantly on our local economy.”
Located in Tulip Lane in Remarkables Park, Frankton, The Mill building has been designed by renowned architects Warren and Mahoney and is being constructed by leading local construction company, Cook Brothers.
