PODIATRY
PODIATRY

Podiatry is the study or the practice to improve mobility and enhance the independence of individuals by the prevention and management of pathological foot problems and associated morbidity. This is achieved this by providing advice on the health, assessment and diagnosis of foot pathology and providing treatment options.

A significant proportion of sports-related injury is directly attributed to the feet or lower limbs, as they are the weight-bearing structures of your body, which are most vulnerable under stress or constant impact.
Through thorough biomechanical, gait or treadmill assessments we will determine the potential cause and formulate a management plan for the best possible results.

Radial Shock Wave Therapy
We are the only Queenstown clinic to successfully utilise radial shock wave therapy as part of our management of chronic tendonopathies. Radial shock wave therapy is the application of a high-energy acoustic pulse transmitted into the tissue of the affected area of the body.

Each shock wave treatment works to increase the metabolic activity around the site of pain or discomfort. This stimulates the body’s natural healing process, thus reducing pain and promoting the reabsorption of calcium deposits in tendons.
The most common conditions our podiatrists treat and manage include:
-
Patellofemoral syndrome (knee cap pain)
-
Plantar fasciitis (acute heel/arch pain)
-
Plantar fasciosis (chronic long term heel spur pain)
-
Shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome)
-
Achilles tendonosis
-
Ankle pain (sprained ankles)
